Phonics Quiz Quiz Trade

Today in phonics we learnt the alternative diagraph for ‘oo’ sound which is ‘ue,’ To help us with our spelling we learnt that the ‘ue’ grapheme is usually used when the sound is at the end of the word and the ‘oo’ grapheme is used when the sounds comes in the middle of the world. To practice spotting both of these diagraphs in our reading we used a kagan structure called quiz quiz trade. This structure requires you to quiz different partners and you each have to read a range of words with the ‘oo’ and ‘ue’ digraphs in, such as blue and cartoon. Everyone did a great job!

See if you can spot the ‘oo/ue’ sound in your reading this weekend and if you find words with this sound in write them in a comment box!
