Portrait Paintings

Mother’s Day is coming up after half term and in connection with this Rosendale School have entered a local competition to celebrate children’s portraits paintings. So today Mrs Scullard, our artist in residence, came in to teach us how to draw and paint a portrait of either our mothers or fathers.

It was really interesting and we used guidelines to help us locate the position of different features on the face first, such as the nose, eyes and mouth. Then we got painting with the watercolours. Mrs Scullard told us that a face is not all one colour, there are different tones to it, for instance under the eyes is darker than the nose. Everyone did a fabulous job and really worked hard at their portraits. You can see the wonderful array of parents faces below….

I wonder if your parents can spot themselves!
